When we got everything out of the bedroom, we checked the girls room and sure enough there was some there too. Behind the crib, the girls dresser, and their toy box. Then when we thought we got it all, there was some up in the closet.

This was the mold growing behind the bookshelf in our room. There was also mold on the bookshelf so we tossed that. (it was one of those cheap walmart ones)

This here was the first spot that i found.
We decided to move our bed and see behind it and sure enough, this was behind it. Right where we lay our heads and dream our sweet dreams.
So housing came in and washed the walls with bleach water and that was it. We packed up and headed to the in laws. I went back today to close windows and check the fan in the bathroom (to see if it was working to help get rid of the humidity from the shower and washing machine) and also to re-wash the walls. The cleaners either didnt clean it all, or its re-growing because i had to wash mold off the walls again. It wasn't this bad though. There is some mold growing under the baseboard things that will have to be taken care of too.

So...We have been having problems with our windows and having pools of water sitting on the sills in the morning, and so we think that had something to do with the mold. MOnday is the day that im going to go and talk to the man in charge and see what they can do to prevent it.

ReplyDeleteHappier note?? I think the snow is the sadder part. Hee. Hee. But no, I do sympathize. It's awful, eh? When we left our Chicago apartment and I moved my wedding dress, there was a thick, green and grey patch (not patchey-but a literal carpet) of mold about three feet high and a foot wide. I about puked. Good thing I left that apartment forever that night.
ReplyDeleteMy environmental health class just talked about mold. Nasty stuff. We were told not to clean it with bleach. It really just spreads it around and it will start to grow again. You should really get it checked out. It could be extremely harmful. If I hear more I will let you know.
ReplyDeleteOur complex has had some mold problems and they tell us to run our kitchen and bathroom fans when the shower is going, after it, and an extra hour a day as well. We've been safe doing that - but mold is definitely a scary gross thing!

ReplyDeleteLooks like the mold is under the baseboards, and probably under the carpet. MAJOR tough to get rid of it. Undiluted bleach won't kill it (the household bleach is quite diluted already), you've gotta get an industrial-level clean-up crew to come it. Good luck!
